From Marrakech over the High and Anti Atlas mountains to the dessert, South Marocco is one turmoil of scents and colours, old culture and dazzling panoramas, with crowded souks full of herbs and spices, baskets, pottery, copper lamps and donkey carts, geometric art in old palaces and mosques, green oasis filled with date palms, barren, unhospitable landscapes and finally the ever encroaching dessert and the age-old camel caravans.
