The aid organisation Hoveraid uses hovercraft to bring medical teams of volunteers to places in the bush of Madagascar that would otherwise be unreachable. The area is poverty stricken and drought ridden. The volunteers are Dutch medical students and local doctors. The Hoveraid base camp is reached after days of hard travel through the interior of Madagascar, by 4x4, oxcart, dug-out canoe and hiking. From there the hovercraft brings the teams to outlying villages where they can dispense basic health care.
